I won the contest!
ow it’s official! I won the grand prize! I was online late last night, and I saw that the contest website changed so that no more votes could be counted, and I was in the top three! I was super excited, and honestly, kind of glad that the whole voting process was over. 7 days of voting is a long time to be spamming your friends, and being your own cheerleader.
The email from this morning:
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your OXOniac submission. By now you may have figured out that you’ve made the Top 3. We are so thrilled to have you represent our brand.
Initially we were going to have each winner fly in on separate weekends to shoot the videos, but as you guys have been reaching out to and rooting for one another, we’re going to do all we can to have you all come in the same weekend. For the $1,000 in OXO Goodies that you’ve also won, you can reach out to our head of Customer Service to place your order for anything you like.
It’s true! We all found each other on facebook/twitter/our blogs and we assumed that we would eventually meet each other, it never even crossed my mind that we could be there at different times. I really hope they can get us there at one time, half the fun is meeting my new online buddies.
And holy crap, $1000 of OXO stuff is a lot of…stuff. Good thing is, they make more than just potato peelers and jar openers, so there’s plenty of different products to choose from. I thought I would be receiving “A basket of OXO products (Approximate Retail Value is $1,000) to be selected by Sponsor”, but I’m glad that I get to choose my prizes, because the World’s Biggest Oxoniac already has a bunch of OXO products, right?
I WON!
Jon had 1517 votes more than I did, and I had 405 more votes than Yvette.
The Facebook Explosion
You can really tell how much people were rooting for me! When I quickly made a tweet last night about winning, I woke up the next morning to my phone ringing like a slot machine.
There wasn’t one day during the voting period that someone didn’t call me, or come up to me in person and say, “I’ve been voting for you everyday, on all my machines.” I even heard from people I haven’t talked to in years, which was really cool.
I have lots of friends, family, and twitter/facebook/blog followers that wanted me to win as badly as I did. I can’t wait to share the rest of the experience with you.
Thank you all so much.
