Thank you, OXO!

Victory is so sweet. It’s been about a month since I won the “World’s Biggest Oxonaic” video contest, and it’s really starting to sink in. (read the story here) We received the first part of our prize in the mail, a portion of the $1000 we get in OXO products. Since we already have so many OXO products to begin with, we selected some of the things we needed around the house, and decided to let our families choose what they wanted (everyone got the Pro Jar Opener), and have OXO ship the gifts to different parts of the country for us.

AND…they will be sending us off the New York in a few weeks to film their product demos - they’re working out the trip details now. Watch my blog for new posts about the trip!

To thank OXO for what they’ve done for us, we made a little video for them. Hope you guys like it! Leave a comment and let us know what you think. (video under jump)

The Thank You OXO Song

Thank you OXO, for all the goodies,
You know that we are, all just foodies!
We love everything, that you sent us,
They will last, as long as our bus. (Couldn’t find much that rhymes with “us”).

Garlic presser, pop containers,
bypass loppers, lemon zester,
GoodGrips food scale, cherry pitter,
nylon grabber, salad spinner, turkey baster (whew)

All these goodies, are just lovely.
But nothing beats the, Pro Jar Opener.
We will soon go, on an airplane,
To New York to earn some web fame!

Highlights

opening.png “Ahhh! Ohmygod ohmygod we won we won we won!” Hahaha okay I don’t really sound like a 14-year-old cheerleader. Really. It was just for the video. Oh yeah, and did you see how easy it was to open the box? We peeked already.

opening3.png “Yup, that’s everything.”

unwrapping.png It’s Christmas ALL OVER AGAIN.

guitar2.png Singing my heart out - wow my voice is horrible. Sorry, guys.

violin.png Mike is a virtuoso. (He plays bluegrass fiddle). If you see a flash of something on the left at 0:51, that’s him on the violin. It didn’t make it into the video.

shred1.png Shredding the mandolin, because that’s what Metallica listening, bluegrass musicians do.

Some of our new stuff!

cherry-pitter.jpg Look! It’s a cherry pitter! No, we don’t eat a lot of cherries, but if you remember back to this post, we have a plum tree in the backyard that grows hundreds of tiny little plums that cherry-sized pits. Too difficult to eat, but with this toy, we’ll be eating plum pie/cake/cobbler/pudding/jam this summer. (People - that is a STILL from the video. My Canon T1i is absolutely amazing.)

garlic-press.png We got this garlic press. OXO’s garlic press is the only one I’ll use because there’s these rubber teeth that press the yucky garlic pulp stuck to the holes back out so it’s easier to clean. Cleaning garlic presses any other way is a nightmare, trust me. I got the garlic press from OXO’s “SteeL” collection which is gorgeous…this is the most attractive thing OXO has made - and with less rubber, too.

foodscale.png I finally got that foodscale! It was the last thing missing from my kitchen. What I really needed it for was making non-American recipes where they weigh the ingredients (not like us lazy Americans, who wing it).

loppers.png Since we’re the biggest Oxoniacs, we have more than enough OXO products, so we got some outdoor tools like this bypass lopper. Bypass lopper. So much fun to say.

turkey-baster.png I don’t make much meat, but a turkey baster is a good thing to have around. It even came with its own little cleaning brush.

salad.png My new salad spinner! It’s way bigger than I thought it would be. I’m not sure where to put it now. I should have gotten a smaller one.

Bubba’s Bucket Brisket

And I conclude now with a random video from my boyfriend, Bubba. He makes meat in a bucket. The last time you saw him, he was selling OXO products from the Da Gangsta’s Emporium.
